Color vs. Black & White

New couponers often ask me if you need to print online coupons in color.  The answer is no!  We abandoned color printers long ago due to the cost of the ink and its tendency to dry up before it ran out.  We just didn't use it enough.  When it didn't dry up, it was often still a struggle to get a good print.  We have used black and white laser printers for many, many years and have been quite happy.

I'm delighted to report that my black and white printed coupons work just fine in the stores.  I've never had a problem due to their lack of color.  We bought a relatively inexpensive Brother printer (retails for around $100 but we got it for $50 with a trade-in of the old crappy color one!)  We replace the toner about once per year (toner retails for $70, got it for around $40 on Amazon).

Another perk is that the laser printers print more quickly than inkjets and are generally quieter.

If you are in the market for a new printer, consider a black and white laser.  You'll love it for coupons!
